HSKS Greenhalgh Corporate Finance have advised former England Rugby player Simon Hodgkinson on the purchase of a second care home in Nottinghamshire.

Simon, together with Rick Field, has acquired Beech House Care Home Worksop Limited for an undisclosed sum.  Simon made his first acquisition in the sector in 2011 with the purchase of Westcliffe Care Home in Nottingham.

Beech House is registered for 32 residents to provide residential care, including dementia, and has an excellent reputation in the local area, as well as with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) who in their latest report rated the home as ‘good’.  It was opened by the Durgahee family in the late 1980s and has remained under their ownership ever since.   The sale came about as they now wish to retire.

Commenting on the deal, HSKS Greenhalgh Corporate Finance Manager Simon Hopkin said: “We have continued to work closely with Simon since he first entered the sector five years ago with the acquisition of Westcliffe Care Home.  It is very pleasing to see the knowledge, experience and enjoyment he has gained from running this particular business inspire him to buy a second home and we were delighted to help him identify a suitable business and complete the deal on his behalf.  With the added knowledge Rick brings with him we have no doubt that Beech House will be an excellent addition to Westcliffe Care Home”.

Simon Hodgkinson said: “I am delighted to be acquiring Beech House Care Home from the Durgahee family, who have owned and operated it since its inception. Beech House will be my second home and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for both.

“Throughout the transaction I have appreciated the advice, support and negotiating experience of my purchasing team, noting in particular Simon Hopkin and Colin Peacock of HSKS Greenhalgh and Roger Harcourt of Shakespeare Martineau”.

Funding for the purchase was provided by Barclays. James Rutter, Relationship Director in Nottingham said: “I am delighted we have been able to support the owners with funding to help expand their business. The purchase of Beech House offered a strategic fit with their existing home.”

Roger Harcourt at Shakespeare Martineau LLP acted for the buyers.
